Create a challenging learning environment for every student.
Provide documentation for educational accountability.
Allow time for enrichment and/or acceleration for students that demonstrate that need.
Maximize academic growth for all students.
Curriculum
The 5th grade curriculum can be found HERE.
Homework/Assignments
Assigned Monday-Thursday
Work MUST be shown for EVERY problem; points will be deducted if work is not shown. Assignments need to be completed in PENCIL using legible handwriting. Assignments that are turned in late will be graded in accordance with the district grading policy. Students are responsible for turning in their own work. Class assignments that are not finished in class will be homework. Students are responsible for picking up missing assignments from the designated folder; assignments will be graded in accordance with the district make-up work policy. Assignments cannot be completed a second time for a higher grade. There are no extra credit assignments.
Tests/Retests
Tests will be given to demonstrate mastery of a concept. Tests will take place on natural breaks within the curriculum. Tests are generally 16 questions in length with 1 extra credit problem. If a student makes below a 75, the student MUST retake the exam. For retakes, the teacher individually conferences with each student; the student must then work out NEW problems that test the same skill. For retakes, the maximum allowed grade is a 75.
